When I was in Arizona last week, all the businesses had signs posted stating that they were required to utilize this program. This is due to an Executive Order by out-going Governor Janet Napolitano, who will be replacing Michael Chertoff as the head of the Department of Homeland Security.

This probably means that we can expect to see some version of national e-Verify program become mandatory in the near future despite the efforts of the various trade and lobbying groups that Jason mentions in his article.
