Your New Job - Look in the Mirror

AFL-CIOImage via WikipediaYour New Job (video below - check it out before reading the rest of the post)

This is a funny look at a serious topic.

The topic I am thinking of isn't the topic of the video though.

The video is an ad spoofing orientation videos, and touting support for the Employee Free Choice Act. EFCA is a serious topic in its own right, but not the one I want you to be thinking about right now.

This video looks like a farce to most employers. No company with any intention of being remotely professional would do the things shown in this video. So why does the AFL-CIO use such over the top images depicting "big business owners" in its ad?

Is it possible our employees might actually see this kind of stuff in our workplaces? Do employers actually behave as stupidly as this guy does? I was as pissed as any one else over the "corporate jets" furor a couple of weeks ago, but that was just a "cluster" story for the media at the end of the day.

If you could look in the mirror with eyes of an employee, what would you see? You might want to think about that for a bit.
