Starbucks Expands Breakfast Menu

Kevin Coupe of the Morning News Beat retail web site notes this morning that Starbucks continues to shuffle and revamp their product offerings. The Fortune Top 100 company also continues their international expansion, opening their first store in Portugal as part of a joint venture.

The Morning News Beat web site is an excellent source of information for those interested in the retail business. Coupe and his site deliver "Retail News in Context, Analysis with Attitude".

As noted by Coupe,

Forbes reports that Starbucks will introduce three new hot breakfast
sandwiches next week. The three sandwiches are being marketed under the name
Piadini, will feature artisan bread and will be filled with either sausage, egg
and cheese or portobello mushroom, spinach and ricotta cheese.

The introduction of these new products follows the introduction
earlier this month of oatmeal, apple bran muffins and multigrain rolls to its
breakfast menu.

I had a skinny Venti Vanilla Triple latte and a cranberry orange scone for breakfast on my drive to work this morning. Starbucks used to be a daily stop for me, but now it is a treat due to both diet needs. I am trying to lose weight, and these kinds of breakfast foods can't be the norm when dieting. Also, I save quite a bot of cash bu not dropping $5 a day at S-bux.

In the other note on Morning News Beat, Starbucks continues their move into international markets:

Meanwhile, the Puget Sound Business Journal reports that Starbucks will
open its
first store in Portugal next week, operated by a joint venture of
the
company’s Starbucks Coffee International subsidiary and Grupo VIPS, a
subsidiary of Sigla S.A. Grupo VIPS operates 75 Starbucks stores in
Spain and 45 in France.

Personally, when I travel internationally outside the United States, I like to sample the local fare rather than drink the same coffee in Amsterdam that I can get in Lakeland, Florida!
