Discount Grocer Aldi Makes Debut in Central Florida

NORTHWICH, UNITED KINGDOM - JULY 03:  An Aldi ...Image by Getty Images via DaylifeIn an Aldi supermarket, you have to rent a shopping cart and bag your own groceries. Recognizable brands are few and far between, and the goods are stacked on pallets and in shipping cases 5 feet high.

The German grocer ALDI began opening stores in South Florida this week, including one just up the street from my home here in Tampa.

The intitial reception seems enthusiastic.

    Whereas - I think I'll stay in Europe for the time being. Just running into the romantic winter season... with colds, but also hot-chocolate sitting in front of the fire place :)
