Some Surprises from HRFlorida (including Scoble & a Starfish)
An update from the HRFlorida Conference which I blogged about attending during the SHRM National Conference, which I missed. This conference was no cheap imitation. It was first class all the way
We had three days of great sessions, terrific speakers, and great fun. (and curse you, Kris Dunn for blogging about it before I even got home from Orlando.
Some of the things I enjoyed:
Shannon Seery Gude of The Bernard Hodes Group gave a fascinating presentation on recruiting with social media. Her blog excelr8ion is fascinating, and I recommend you follow her.
Shannon's presentation included discussions of twitter, the UAB Emergency Room Rap video below, and the Social Media Recruiting Starfish created by Robert Scoble and adapted by Chris Russell of the Jobs in Pods Blog.
Surprising data:
- More jobs searches occur on Google every day than Monster and Career Builder combined.
- Most active sites for recruiting right now are Facebook, Indeed.com, and simplyhired, com
- 64% of companies block access to many social media sites (less surprising)
Surprisingly entertaining: Morris Day and The Time. To quote Morris from his show last night: "Orlando, Let me show you all how I do that Shit!"
Great review. I think there was a slight typo. I believe www.simplyhired.com is the site you want.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elizabeth...Spellcheck hell again!
ReplyDeleteReally glad the you attended the session and that it was valuable! Thanks for the post.
